What Causes A Sore Throat, Sinus Congestion And Dizziness After Waking Up?
Woke up with a sore throat a little sinus drainage. Drank some hot tea with honey and felt fine. No aches or pains then or now. Watched a movie stood up and started getting dizzy to where I felt I was losing my balance. Sat back down was ok. Stood back up and same thing, dizzy. Not sure if it put me in a panic attack, at least that s how I would describe it. Have not experienced an a panic attack but reading sounds what I was beginning to have. I m back I bed resting drinking wAter. Sort of afraid to stand up. No other meds I take. 66 years old with no history of this before. Any suggestions?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
You may be suffering from acute viral pharyngitis with BPPV probably. Other possibilities like hypotension or anemia or cardiac problem may cause dizziness. Avoid cool drinks and freeze water avoid smoking and alcohol. Use water vapor inhalation and salt water gargling thrice a day for five. Also check for cardiac or CNS causes for dizziness. If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
