What Causes A Soft Lump On The Back Of The Head?

I have a soft mushy lump on the top of my head in the back on right side. I saw my dermatologist today he told me it is not a cyst and he does not know what it is. The Dr told me he would see if they could recalberate my last MRI so they could try and find out what it is I am very worried now what could this be? I have a large brain aneurysm in my carotid artery which Dr Grobelny put two pipeline stents into in 2011 I have had this soft mushy spot on my head for a while and have had my GP look at it a few times each time she said she saw nothing. Last week when I saw GP she said I had a cyst and to see a dermatologist.

Hello,

It is sebaceous. It can be confirmed by aspiration. For this consultation with a dermatologist is not required.

Surgical examination and management are required. It can be surgically removed. Ensure complete removal or else there will be recurrence.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
