What Causes A Small Lump At The Bottom Of The Foot?

A small lump formed on the bottom of my foot right below by big toe. It came on suddenly. I cannot put weight on it. I have not had an injury. I have tried ice and heat but no relief. I have tried massaging it and that seemed to help a bit but the lump is still there. What can it be?

Based on what you said, it is most probably a plantar wart. They are caused by viral infection in skin. They are not harmful and go away in months to years by themselves but pain is a concern. You should also visit a physician who can take a look at this.

Physician may prescribe you salicylic acid ointment for it. It usually leads to complete resolution of wart. Rarely, if it doesn't go away and cause pain, surgery may be required.
