What Causes A Sharp Pain Under The Shoulder Blade In The Back?

When I awake in the morning I have moderate paid on the left side of my back under the shoulder blade. It seems to radiate this pain with movement. I had been thinking that it could be caused by the way I sleep as I am a side sleeper (both sides). This paid only occurs on the right side of the back. Its a sharp pain and has been going on for about a month now. Any ideas?
