What Causes A Red Rash On The Elbow While On Metformin And Glimepiride?

I am currently taking metformin for diabetes type 2. I am taking this medication 2x a day. I also am taking glimepiride 4 mg tab, lisinopril 10mg,and atorvastatin 80mg. I just noticed a red spot about an inch long on my right inner elbow area. Looks like a rash. I just took metformin about 2 1/2 hours ago. Is this something to be concerned about? Do I discontinue this medication?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be an allergic eruption. As a first line management, you can apply low potency steroid creams like betamethasone for symptomatic relief.

If the lesion persists, it is better to consult a dermatologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
