What Causes A Pus Filled Bump On The Scrotum?

Hi I m Matt, I m 20 years old and I found a small bump on my scrotum. I didn t notice it until I got into bed and my leg rubbed against it and it was painful. I tried popping it like a zit and it popped easily. Puss came out and I m hoping that s the last I ll see of it. It still hurts when I touch it but its broken skin. I can imagine that it s very painful. I am not sexually active and wash my scrotum everyday. Is it minor? I hope it s not an STD thing. I ve checked and that s the only bump I have.

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted your history of a painful lump on your scrotum, which you have popped .
This is most probably an infected sebaceous cyst. Since the skin is broken and if the whole cyst is being expelled there will be no recurrence.
It will remain painful for a day or two. Please apply liquid povidone iodine to the whole skin so that it is made sterile and you will not get secondary infection.
This is definitely not an STD, just stop worrying about it.
