What Causes A Painful Spot On The Middle Of The Spine?

About three weeks ago I got this scabby, painful spot on the middle of my spine. It was painful. It is now smooth but it has left a dark mark on my skin as large as the rash or scabby skin was. It doesn t hurt anymore but I am so surprised that it left a big mark or scar on my back. I thought once it dried up it would go away completely. Do you have any idea of what it might have been?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

As per your history, it may be due to folliculitis.

For that you can apply neosporin powder. Take tablet acetaminophen for pain.

Keep your self hydrated. Do regular dressing in case of open wound.

You may require antibiotics in case of fever.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shyam B. Kale, General & Family Physician
