What Causes A Painful Purple Bruise With Red Dots?

Hello, I have a bruise that looks like its swollen and it has purple and blue and red dots. It hurts when it touches warm water or fabric. I think the injury happened when i fell walking up the stairs, it hurt, a lot. It was until 2 hours, i noticed it starting to bump, then later, it was noticeable it was a bruise, then after a period of around 5-7 hours, i saw dots. Is it normal? Should i seek medical attention? Any quick ways to remove it?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* Sudden appearance of painful purple bruises and red dots can be secondary to allergic reaction via type I hypersensitivity and mast cell release of histamine.

* Ideal approach would be an ER visit, a time being approach would be the application of ice and intake of Cetirizine or chlorpheniramine maleate tablet if available at the nearby chemist without a prescription.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
