What Causes A Painful Lump Over Incisors At The Site Of Partial Dentures?

I have a partial denture of 4 front teeth, which have fitted tightly, and during this process , over the years, has caused a painful lump red swelling over my incissor. I had xray and was informed it was not anything sinister, motre like a Bunion , as the gum has bern pushef. I had some tissue removed by local anestheticover a year ago, but now feel the tooth is becoming painful occasionally. Ihave a big fear of going to the Dentist, please can you advise me, what treatment would be necessary please. Thegum is bright pink, and the bulge the size of a large pea.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.

As per your complain and presentation of symptoms a lump over the gums of incisor tooth and now having pain in tooth indicates that initially there might be infection in gums leading to formation of gum abscess [gingival abscess or periodontal abscess] and as the infection was not taken care of it has proceeded towards the tip of the root apex of tooth leading to formation of dental abscess too causing tothache..
These type of lesion are known as Perio [gum]-Endo [tooth] related lesions..

You need to consult a Periodontist and get evaluated and if required he can do a localized deep Scaling and curettage of the gums and tooth followed by antibiotics and painkillers.
Following this Root Canal treatment can be done after removing the partial denture to remove infection from the tooth as well.

After the infection and bump completely resolves partial denture can be replaced..

As of now you can start taking a course of antibiotics like Amoxicillin and anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen for relief from pain..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
