What Causes A Painful Lump On The Testicle Of A 13 Year Old Boy?

My 13 year old son came home from school today and says he has a dull pain behind his testicle in the sack. It is not on the sack, but he says it feels like a small pea sized lump. The pain has been coming and going off and on all day. Is this cause for alarm. His only other symptoms are a headache, but he gets those often. He just got a physical in June and am wondering if this is part of the growing process or something with maturing going on.

this may be a case of epidydimorchitis, presence of swelling with pain is not related to growth . it may be a cyst secondary to infection. I can suggest you to get done hemogram to see for rised counts and sonogram of scrotum to check for the status of testicle and signs of infection.
