General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

After an injury, there is an increase in blood flow to the region and leaking of fluid into the injured tissue. This leads to a swelling in the region.

Over the 5-7 days the swelling usually subsides and the injured tissue goes back to normal. In your case it is slightly delayed and shouldn't be a cause for worry.
