Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes A Nodule And An Indentation In The Leg?
In May I noticed a nodule on my left leg (sort of white in color) with a redness of the leg and a tight feeling below it. The nodule was sensitive. I showed it to my family doctor who said it was probably a bruise. I have had several appointments with my family doctor since then regarding a different issue. I brought up the leg issue each time as it did not go away. He usually said the same thing - a deep bruise. I have now completed my appointments regarding the other issue and the nodule has gotten a little bigger and there is an indention in the leg above the nodule early in the morning when I get up. It is still sensitive. I don t know what kind of a specialist I should see on this.
As per your history it looks swelling of soft tissue or bony benign swelling. As swelling is not reducing I will advise you to further investigate for the cause of swelling. I will advise you to do MRI and CT scanUltrasound of the swelling. If its collection or benign mass it can be excised.
So you may need blood investigation. Till time you can take anti-inflammatory and antibiotic if infection is suspected.
Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.
Wishing you good health.
Take care.
