Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I went to the doctor for a chest infection and cough..also diarrhea. He lectured me that it was probably viral...but he would give me antibiotics if I want. I knew it could also be bacterial or fungal. He took no tests and barely listened to my lungs. I told him it was 8 days into this sickness...and that I also had a very strong metallic taste in my mouth and no appetite! He said he had no idea what that was!!!! It is now over 3 weeks that I have had this same thing and not getting much better except the diarrhea is gone. I looked up symptoms online and I believe I have bronchitis....but it still doesn't explain the metallic taste which definitely came at the exact moment I got sick! Any ideas what I might have and what test should I ask for?
So first of all consult an Emergency room or a Physician and get evaluated.. A chest x ray, blood test and if there is sputum then a sputum culture can be advised..
You can be advised a course of antibiotics, anti inflammatory Medicine and cough suppressant for relief..
For masking bad taste you can chew flavoured sugar free chewing gum and gargle with flavoured Mouthwash.. Clear your tongue using a tongue scraper..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
