What Causes A Lump On The Small Finger After An Injury?

I smashed my pinky in my trunk a few weeks ago and went to the doctor and he said I had a hairline fracture at the base of my finger close to the knuckle. I still can t lift up my finger. It just won t rise. And there is a bump that looks like a knuckle but isn t between my pinky and ring finger knuckle. Why is this?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It could be a minor hematoma or contusion.

Generally, it will settle by itself without any problems.

As a first line management, you can apply ice packs for symptomatic relief.

If symptoms persist better to consult an orthopedician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
General & Family Physician
