Hi! Good evening. I am Dr Shareef answering your query. Although it needs a physical examination of the lesion to arrive at a diagnosis, from the history it seems to me to be an infected lesion forming an
abscess either de novo, or by a super added infection in a pre existing
benign cyst or lump like a pilonidal abscess or an infected sebaceous cyst or
dermoid. If I were your doctor, I would examine if it was a frank abscess both clinically and also by a FNAC. In this case, I would evacuate the abscess by
incision and drainage possibly under a
general anaesthesia for immediate relief. Once it was healed, I would go for an
elective surgery of removing the lesion by an excision biopsy and sending the same for histopathological diagnosis. Till then you could go for an anti inflammatory drug along with a
proton pump inhibitor for a symptomatic relief.
I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in further management of your problem. Please do not hesitate to ask in case of any further doubts.
Thanks for choosing health care magic to clear doubts on your health problems. I wish you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
