What Causes A Lump In The Leg After A Leg Injury?

I got hit in my lower left leg with a softball very hard. There was a bruise very big where the ball made contact and almost like blood pooled on the left side of my left foot. The bruises are gone but now there is a very hard golf ball sized lump where the ball made contact. Did not go to doctor. What does the lump mean?

HI
Well come to HCM
I really appreciate your concern, ideally such injury need to be investigated and X-ray study is must, it just to rule out the fracture part else this could be soft tissue inflammation, hope this information helps, take care.
