What Causes A Lump At The Tip Of The Xiphoid Process Bone?

I am 54 years and have noticed that the tip of my xiphoid process bone has taken a shape of a small hard ball, the size of which has increased substantially over the last six months. It's a visible bone growth, but not painful. Though I have read that this is generally not a cancer, but since it's a visibly growing bone at the age of 54 years, hope it's not cancer by any chance. Can someone educate me on that please

- inflammation of the xiphoid tip itself - overlying sebaceous cyst or
other soft tissue lesion like neurofibroma giving hard appearance as of
bone .
