What Causes A Lump Along With Pain And Swelling In The Knee?

Hi, I had ACL surgery 7 years ago and in the past week noticed a hard, painless, bone like lump on the outside of the knee I had surgery on. It moves slightly when I extend my leg but otherwise is very hard. It s about the size of a large marble. Sometimes my knee aches and swells up but it always has done that post surgery.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The lump on the knee can be related to bursitis or a fluid collection. This needs direct examination or MRI scan to find the cause.

I hope this information has been helpful for you.

Regards,

Dr. Praveen Tayal
