What Causes A Low WBC Count While On Aspirin, Rifampin And Doxycycline?

I have a history of liver cirrhosis with chronic low white blood cell count and low platelets. I am taking now aspirin 325 mg twice a day and rifampin and doxycycline for a hip joint infection. My last WBC was 1.5 and platelets 51. Can the aspirin or antibiotic worsen those counts? No signs of bleeding. No history of varices

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It is not related to Aspirin.

Do a repeat count after one week. Include more fruits and vegetables in the diet.

If the count is persistently low, you have to consult a physician and go for a peripheral smear.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
