What Causes A Large Patch On Thigh Causing Prickling Sensation?

I have a patch of skin on my thigh, above the knee, of approximately 6 X 3 inches that when I place either a cold or a hot item (a ice-cold glass or a hot coffee cup) there is no sensation for a few seconds, then with pressure I feel the cold or heat. And, occasionally, there is a prickling sensation in the area as though a feather is touching the leg area. Should I see my doctor regarding this.Thank you. Hugh

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Of course, you should visit a doctor as soon as possible. A doctor should examine you physically to check the red itching patch you are having. It can't be concluded in a diagnosis without examination.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
