What Causes A Large Bruise On The Lower Leg While On Xarelto?

I am 86 years old, recently had blood clots in lungs and was put on blood thinner Zarelto. A very large bruise like appeared on my lower right leg and numerous rash like spots on both legs. My doctor changed me to Eliquis, did blood work to check platets, etc. and gave me an ointment to use on my legs. the initial bruising has faded a little... but other spots are showing up. What do you think?

Hello,

Xarelto can cause thrombocytopenia which can cause a rash over lower limbs. Check platelets, coagulation profile. It is a condition called Heparin-induced thrombocytopenia.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
