I have a hard lump on the bone of my knee around 3 cm in diameter that I noticed a few days ago. It has appeared on the right side of my right knee. I would like to know if I need to go see a doctor or if it it nothing to concern myself with. I can t remember if I have knocked my leg or not. I d be greatful for any help. Kind regards Lorraine.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

If it does not grow very fast, most likely its a benign lump. If its hard like a bone, x-ray should be done as this might be some fracture or bone overgrowth (benign).
If its not bone hard, a cyst coming from the joint can be the case.

I suggest you to consult orthopedist. Knee ultrasound and x-ray are the first tests you should have.

Regards.
