What Causes A Growing Painful Lump On Buttocks After Sitting For Long Time?

I am 18 years old male recently traveled on long flight sitting on same position developed painful lump on my left butt cheek taking advil and using aniboitic ointment but its not going away.Its not red and getting bigger even tried compressing with hot water bottle please help. Thank you.

Hi,

Thanks for your question.

After going through your question, I can understand your concern.

There is most likely possibility of hair folliculitis (follicle infection) with or without developing abscess.

It usually occur with prolonged sitting due to excessive sweating and lack of aeration.

You should use pain killer with anti-inflammatory like aceclofenac with serratopetidase.

There may be need for oral antibiotic like Amoxicillin with clavulunate if it increases in size or there is fever.

Maintain local hygiene.
