What Causes A Feeling Of Tightness In The Bronchus?

Hello, Dr. Rynne My name is Liz. I ve been experiencing a persistent feeling of tightness in my lungs/bronchial tubes for a couple of weeks. I have asthma, and this feeling is much like the early warning sign of an asthma attack, but I haven t had one, even though I ve been exercising. Use of my inhaler (admittedly an old, out of date one) has not helped. I live in Asia, which is why I haven t just gone to a doctor. My experience here is that they tend to throw antibiotics at everything.

Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
Tightness in chest may not necessarily be of infectious origin. With a past history of asthma, such a feeling is possible and you will need to watch out for an attack.I will suggest you get a potent bronchodilator like seretide(fluticasone and salmeterol) and use. Also, the following home measures may help:
-Avoid environmantal irritants like dust, smoke, cold...
-Use your air conditioner
-Maintain optimal humidity
If symptoms persist, you see the Doctor for evaluation.
Hope this will help
Wish you good health
