What Causes A Bump On The Labia Majora Despite Taking Acyclovir For Genital Herpes?
Okay so my situation is complicated. I have type 2 genital herpes. The first outbreak was a bump on my outer labia majora. After my first outbreak I have not received an outbreak in years. I take acyclovir 400mg twice a day for preventive purposes. Recently, I got what I thought was an extremely bad herpes outbreak, ended up going to urgent care and taking the acyclovir (800mg) 5 times a day to treat an outbreak. I took all the pills and it still hasn t cleared up; has got a little better but still prominent. It itches way more than I remember and spread from my lower butttocks down to my inner thighs clear up to my knee. No actually bumps on my vaginal region; closest is my lower buttocks. I went to the doctor today, who knows I have type 2 herpes, and said it looks like shingles because the majority of my bumps are on one side on my leg going all the way down to the inner knee. There s only a few on the left side of my thigh. I can t distinguish if this is the worst genital herpes outbreak I have ever got in my life or shingles. Also never had chicken pox as a child. From your expertise do you lean towards herpes outbreak or shingles?
The bump with persistence appearance after taking acyclovir multiple doses indicate possible drug resistance issue. Kindly discuss the need of Valacyclovir or other medications for better and early resolution of the existing bump which is most likely from herpes infestation only.
