What Causes A Bump In The Inner Upper Thigh With Stretch Marks?

I have a bump on my inner upper thigh near my groin. Just noticed it 2 days ago. It s sensitive to the touch and has some discomfort when I walk bc of where it s located. Also it s surrounded by purpleish stretch marks that I didn t notice before either. Could it just be a cyst? Or what else could it be? Should I see my doctor or go straight to a dermatologist?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I would prefer to see a photo of the bump you are referring. Most probably it is caused by folliculitis an infection of the hair root. The stretch marks may have been there for longer but now maybe are more obvious because of it. You can use an antibiotic ointment over it.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka,
