Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes A Buildup Of Extra Fluid In The Lungs?
A cousin of mine is hospitalised for formation of fluid in the lungs. She has breathing problems. Doctors have recommended giving her eggs. She is in ICU for the last one week and the fluid is being drained out. what is the survival chance of such a patient.
It could be a pleural effusion secondary to low protein (that may be the reason why eggs has advised). Consult a pulmonologist and get evaluated, The survival chance will depend on the stage of the disease. Proper ICU care is must.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Wishing you all the best.
Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
