What Causes A Brown Spot Under The Armpit?

Small roundish brown spot under armpits. They are slowly spreading under my biceps and also my neck. They do not itch, burn or make me feel discomfort. The spot are always a dark brown but they darken even more when i sweat. It started about 6-7 months ago. I thought it was like a rash but it never itched. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

This may be due to pytiriasis versiclor. This is a yeast infection of the skin that causes the color to change, if the patient has light skin color it changes to dark brown, if the patient has dark skin color it changes to white. It generally does not cause local symptoms. To treat it you can take local treatment with miconazole twice a day for 3 weeks.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj,
General & Family Physician
