Hi,

Well, as you already have a cold sore and the type of pain that you are explaining seems to be most probably due to nerve induced pain which can be related to viral infiltration of the nerve.

If the pain is completely subsided then you can wait and watch.

If the symptoms recur then you need to immediately consult an Emergency room or a Physician and get evaluated.

A clinical examination and an MRI scan and a test for the viral count and antigen-antibody test can be done for ruling out the case so that appropriate treatment can be advised.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
