Hi I have about 1 week ago cold sore in left hand corner of mouth &started to got a pins & needles feeling on left side of face .it was around the left eye area and up on forad it was a weird sensation,it was sort of annoying to touch anyway that feeling went and now the area feels s little sore and behind the eye area however not sore when I push around that area ?
Well, as you already have a cold sore and the type of pain that you are explaining seems to be most probably due to nerve induced pain which can be related to viral infiltration of the nerve.
If the pain is completely subsided then you can wait and watch.
If the symptoms recur then you need to immediately consult an Emergency room or a Physician and get evaluated.
A clinical examination and an MRI scan and a test for the viral count and antigen-antibody test can be done for ruling out the case so that appropriate treatment can be advised.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Honey Arora,
Dentist
