What Causes RPOC After Medical Abortion?

I had a medical abortion with mifepristine and misoprostol after that I bled for 2 weeks after which everything was normal . I went for a follow up ultrasound and it showed retained product of conception ( RPOC ) but I have no symptom of rpoc such as heavy bleeding , fever , etc . I took another misoprostol but nothing happend . Should I wait till my next menstruation cycle or go for a D&C

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

I suggest you to consult your gynecologist with ultrasound findings. Although you are not facing any symptom like heavy bleeding, however, the retained products of conception need to be removed since they can cause problem any time in future.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
