What Causes Ehlers Danlos Syndrome Type 3?

I m a 41 year old male physical therapist assistant with Ehler s Danlos Syndrome type 3, Hypermobility type. I have suffered and continue to suffer from chronic stress fracture of left fibulae due to only having the lateral side of my gastrocnemius muscle, having lost the medial side due to permanent nerve damage. Would casting in a long leg non weight bearing cast coupled with a bone stimulator for 2 months be appropriate to attempt to keep from having surgical ORIF?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

People with this condition have loose joints and frequently have long-term joint pain.

Other names of it are Ehlers-Danlos syndrome hypermobility type is also known as Ehlers-Danlos syndrome Type III, Ehlers-Danlos Type 3, and EDS hypermobility type Hypermobile.

Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (hEDS) is generally considered the least severe type of EDS, although significant complications, primarily musculoskeletal, can and do occur. The skin is often soft and maybe mildly hyperextensible.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
