What Cause Swollen Eyes And Nose While Treating Asthma?

I have a huge problem with allergies and asthma... I am on anithistimines and decongestants and corticosteroids... I often wake up with swelling over eyes and nose almost making a triangle where eyes and nose meet. Is this just allergy sinsus ... histamine/mucus build up, or is something else likely to be going on

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

The cause for the edema development between eyes and nose as you have explained can be one or more of the following:
*Swelling at the same area again and again indicates fixed reaction to an allergen.
*Pneumatocele connected with sinuses and blowing allowing to develop swelling at the spot.
*INfection of the nasal bone.
*Steroids can cause such edema.
I would advise you to consult an ENT SUgeon fr an actual examination and confirmation by CT scan or MRI of the nose, sinuses and realted things.
To get diabetes checked for as you have been taking steroid for a long time.
Definitive treatment will depend on the cause found.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
