What Cause Pain And Burning Sensation In The Upper Abdomen?

have an overactive gallbladder, and cannot eat certain foods. ate one of those trigger foods on mothers day and had abdominal pain similiar to a burning sensation in upper right quadrant of abdomen. took prilosec to try and help, two hours later was still in pain and had loose-dierrhea like black stools. happened 4 more times into the night, could not eat anything last night or for most of today. at work my stomach felt dull and achy whenever i bent over or lifted something up. someone mentioned the black stool could be a result of internal bleeding. have had a endoscopy and colonoscopy 3 years ago, but nothing came up. should i be concerned about possible bleeding?

Hi,

Black stool or melena are bleeding from gastrointestinal tract above colon transverse.

You may need an endoscopy done. Most probably you have a gastroduodenal ulcer.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka,
