What Cause Numbness In The Left Leg?

I have been having numbness in my left leg for a few months. It is behind the knee and runs down my leg. Sometimes feels like it is going to give out while walking. Heel has numbness and tingling. When I bend my leg there is shooting pain up and down the leg but mostly around the knee. Cannot kneel with pressure on the knee.
