What Cause Bubble Like Lump On Forearm While Using Compression Sleeves For Brachioplasty?

I had brachioplasty surgery one week ago and am wearing compression sleeves. Now there is a bubble-like swelling on my forearm just at the end of the sleeve. It is lump-like, it doesn t hurt and is not discolored or hot. Is it normal to swell in this fashion. I would expect more like Michelin Man swelling with a swollen area around the entire arm and not just a lump.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the lump like bubble on forearm after using compression sleeve is indicative of fluid collection most likely. The usual cause is excess compression over the circumferential part of the edge of the sleeve and hence venous return is compromised by that pressure and hence the accumulation is presented in terms of fluid beneath the skin layers.

Without waiting for whole arm to swell, immediately remove compression sleeve and consult your doc surgeon for further plans of action and care.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
