What Can Cause Sudden Pain In The Wrist?

Hi there,I have recently been having a pain in the middle left of my left wrist. When you push on the area it is very sensitive and hurts however there does not appear to be any swelling. I cannot bend my wrist backwards and when bending it forwards or stretching my thumb it is extremely painful. I have not had a fall or anything so wondering what this could be - any thoughts would be appreciated

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to a pinched nerve. I recommend using noninflammatory medication to treat the pain such as Ibuprofen three times a day.

I also recommend to avoid weights or movements of the wrist that can trigger the symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
