What Can Cause Nail Breakage, Tiredness And Hair Fall?

I am currently taking 75mcg levothyroxine for an underactive thyroid and my GP says that my blood test shows that I am on enough. Although I feel better than i used to i really still feel totally tired and my nails and hair still breaks off but not as bad as it did. The tiredness is really getting me down. Shall i challenge my GP?

Hi , thank you for using HCM. i had gone through your question i understand your concerns.
Weakness, fatigue, tiredness, brittle nails, hair fall are most common symptoms of hypothyroidism. Taking treatment alone does not help to relieve the symptoms. I would suggest you to follow these instructions.
1. Take the thyroxine tablet daily, keep TSH levels with in normal range.
2. Have a healthy and balanced diet that should include oats, brown rice, more green leafy vegetables, more fruits, plenty of water.
3. Avoid iodine rich foods like cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli.
4. Include more vegetables, beans, pulses.
5. Avoid long standing exposure to water, soaps, detergents, shampoos
6. Get regular physical exercises.
7. Use mild acting and low chemical based soaps, shampoos, detergents.
Hope i have answered your question if youhave further questions i will be happy to help.
