What Can Cause Extreme Fatigue, Sore Throat And Headache In A Child?

My 8 year old has had on and off (but frequent) sore throat, swollen lymph nodes in neck, extreme fatigue and occasional headaches. No fever, runny nose or cough. She is now starting with hot/cold flashes at night but remains afebrile. This has been ongoing for a month now. Been to Dr. 3 times. Negative strep swab but tried a course of amoxicillin with no effect. Blood work negative CBC, etc...Dr. thinks it’s viral. Is it normal to have a viral throat infection for this long? Had episodes similar to this approximately monthly during the school year that lasted 2-3days. Never a fever. Always extreme fatigue paired with a sore throat and headache. What could this be?

Hi,

In my opinion, it's not a viral infection.. and as your blood reports are negative bacterial is also ruled out. I think your doctor should rule out the allergic component, as there is past history also.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
