What Can Be The Reason For Swollen Finger Tip Pads?

The lowest pad of one of my fingers has become swollen and is somewhat purple. No visible outward sign of bruising or injury. It is puffy, almost feels like fluid filled. Painful to touch. I am a diabetic. How concerned should I be? Is it something I can treat at home?

Hello,

your description raises suspicion for infection and vascular problems. Diabetic patients commonly face such situations at some time. This could be a very important problem, so you'd better visit your doctor for clinical examination and perhaps lab tests. The sooner you do it, the best your chances to avoid serious complications which may even lead to amputation.

I hope you find my comments helpful!
You can contact me again, if you'd like any clarification or further information.

Kind Regards!
