What Can Be Done For Swollen Hands And Pins And Needles Feeling After Frost Nip?

a friend of mine was homeless and got a case of frost nip on her hands about a month ago and was told by a doctor to basically just give it time to heal, it has been a month and her hands are still very swollen and she says she feels like pins and needles, pain and certain parts of her hands she cannot feel. My sister is studying to be a nurse and told me some thing about hyper baracks (something about delivering more oxygen to my friends hands but my sister said that some doctors do not even know about this procedure). Are my friends hands ever going to get better, should she give it some more time, does she have to think about things like amputation ( I think the doctor told her no because I guess the doctor diagnosed it as frost nip not frost bite wich is more serious) Any help would be greatlly appreciated. Thank you

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The swelling and the feeling of pins and needles persistent after a cold nip can be related to a nerve damage. Talking methylcobalamin supplements and keeping the hands warm may help in regeneration.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
