Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi Andrew, I have suffered from chronic pain for 7+ years following a car accident. I need to discontinue Cymbalta and am wondering what is the best way and what I can expect, accepting that we are all individuals with individual responses. I have been on 60mgs daily for over 4years for neuropathic pain but am now having problems with bruising. Thank you, Helen
Hello, Quitting cymbalta cold turkey can cause several withdrawal effects like nausea, vomiting, headache, irritability, anxiety, fatugue, tiredness etc. It is really challenging to come out of cymbalta but not impossible. The best way is to wean off gradually by reducing 10% every month. Although it would take many months but your withdrawal would become easy and your body would get used to successive lowering doses easily. Thanks
From the problems listed in your result the cause of bruising is due to side effect of Cymbalta. If you still continue to have the chronic pain then you can have an alternate choice of Amitryptiline or Carbamazepine I doubt about the availability of these medications over the counter in that case you may have to consult your physicician.
