What Are The Symptoms Of Psychosis?

I have a cousin who was very intelligent and considered himself to be too good to be around most and thought of himself as a master manipulator of most. His sister died of drug overdose, and then his older brother was murdered, and then recently a year ago his mother was murdered. He started useing meth and trying to find who killed her. He was then given 3 voice messages to listen to from his mom before she passed , she was crying because he had turned his back on her. Then it s like his mind snapped. He claimed he s a veteran of the war, that he s served 11 yrs and is convinced she died in the line of duty as well. Also he claims his dead grandfather speaks through him at times. What do u think. My guess was drug induced phycosis. What s yours..

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It is definitely possible that it may be drug induced psychosis.

He has experienced a great deal of trauma within a relatively short period of time.

He needs to be assessed by psychiatry.

I hope this helps
