What Are The Symptoms Of Overactive Bladder?

I am 53 years of age and was diagnosed with urethral stricture and presently my urine flow is even but sometimes have to push and have back and abdominal pains after peeing.I also experience burning sensation afterwards on the tip of my penis. Just recently I have been waking up more frequently at night to visit the toilet but only to pass very little urine(4/6 times) I feel it could be a urinal infection that is causing this problem, however I am taking amoxilyn but this does not help...could it be an overactive bladder?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Your symptoms may be due to urine infection or prostatic hyperplasia. You are advised to go for a scan of abdomen to ascertain the enlargement of prostate and volume of post-void urine in the bladder. Also, you are advised to undergo for culture and sensitivity of urine to confirm or rule out UTI. The symptoms do not seem to be due to overactive bladder.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
