What Are The Symptoms Of UTI And Bacterial Vaginosis?

My husband and I have recently started trying to get pregnant, up until this point we d always used condoms or the pull out method. Since trying, I realized there s an odor to my urine, like a sweet kinda fishy scent. I ve also been dealing with the urgent stingy feeling which I tried to subdue using AZO. I am no stranger to UTIs. Sometimes AZO is enough if I catch it early enough but a little over two weeks now and symptoms are persisting. I took a UTI at home test and it came up negative for leukocytes but positive for nitrites. Am I dealing with a UTI that can be fixed with antibiotics or am I looking more at bacterial vaginosis?

Hi,
Welcome to healthcare magic.
Your symptoms may suggest an overlap of both conditions you mentioned.
Bacterial vaginosis is usually charaterized by fowl smelling vaginal discharge. A fishy odour coming from the vagina and even during urination indicates bacterial vaginosis.Burning during urination is common to both. A strong smelling ( no fishy odour) urine is a symptom of uti. If you have other symptoms like, lower abdominal pain, back ache on the sides, frequency of urination, with or without fever , then you probably have uti.
Fishy vaginal discharge with mild itching and burning or stinging during urination point to bacterial vaginosis, which is most likely your case.
Hope this helps.
