What Are The Symptoms Of OCD(Obsessive–compulsive Disorder)?

Hello,
I have just recently found out that i have OCD, but after finding this out I had a feeling that there was something else wrong with me but it is hard to explain. I am not 100% sure but it could be the side effects of having OCD, but I just want to make sure. First of all, I find myself talking to myself a lot, well not to myself to someone else who is not there and i am having a perfectly normal conversation. It is normally when I am on my own. Secondly I am always very tired and never have the energy to do things but when I go to bed I can never get to sleep. Thirdly I am a perfectionist and like things my way. There is many more but these are the main things that i want solving first. Can you please help me?

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello,
People with OCD have a tendency to discuss things with themeselves...sometimes it starts in the form of releiving ones anxiety but later it becomes a habbit and as there is noone to object so, it continues for long time.

You must start treatment of this illness as already it has spread and is affecting your life. Usually the drug is - clomipramine or fluvoxamine. It is started in low dose and then gradually build up till there is good response.

After starting medicine the patient is encouraged to enter in regular therapy sessions with someone trained in OCD. In these therapy sessions the patient is encouraged to do homework of controlling ones obsessions.

So, you should start the meds and after a month when there is some calmness - go for therapy.

Wish you good luck
