What Are The Side Effects Of Taking Prednisone On Tongue?

Apparently coinciding with my beginning to take prednisone for Polymyalgia Rheumatica my tongue began to feel like I had burned it (on hot pizza or something) which usually disappears in a day or two. The feeling has not disappeared in several weeks, plus I seem to have lost some taste sensation. What do you think?

Hi and thank you so much for this query.

It is not uncommon for clients to report taste changes after using drugs by placing them on the tongues. This can cause local irritation that causes pain and makes substances to taste a little different. To prevent this, try to rinse the mouth and tongue thoroughly after taking this medication. Also, this would hep prevent local infections like candidiasis.

I hope this helps. I wish you well.Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications should need be. Thanks for using our services. We very much appreciate that.
