What Are The Side Effects Of Taking Lisinopril During Pregnancy?

Hi. I am 30 weeks pregnant and accidentally took one of my husbands lisinipril 20 mg pills instead of my diclegis. I called poison control and they said this was a category D drug and to call my OB. I called the OB and she said that since his kidneys are already developed and I only took one pill, 20 mg, it should be fine. She recommended monitoring my blood pressure. I am still really worried. Can this damage my baby?

Hello, yes lisinopril is contraindicated during pregnancy and should not be taken.
However I would like to reassure you that a the organogenesis of the body has already occurred, it means all the organs of your baby including the kidney has already taken place during first 12 weeks. Also single dose should not be a problem.
So be calm, your baby is healthy and so are you. Wishing you a healthy pregnancy.
