Hi,

Febuget 40 (febuxostat) is a medicine used to keep uric acid levels low and ence used in treatment and prevention of gout.

Generally, it is well tolerated by most of the patients however it may cause headache, diarrhea, nausea and during initial treatment an increase in gout symptoms (rapid onset of pain in the joinst, followed by warmth, redness and tenderness around it) can also occur.

Do not stop taking it, your doctor may help with ways to reduce or prevent these symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
