Hello Harpreet,
Migraine can be precipitated by strenous activity or Alcohol as in your case. Abortive treatment is more effective when the medications are taken early in course of the headache and a large single dose is better than taking multiple small doses.
Xenobid(naproxen) & Vasograin (ergotamine + caffeine + paracetamol + prochlorperazine) is effective for abortive treatment of Migraine. But if you get headaches for more than 10days in a month its better to switch to Prophylactic treatment(regular medications to prevent migraine) and to prevent rebound headache or Medication overuse headache.
Some of the side effects of Ergotamine include vascular occlusion and rebound headache and should be avoided in patients with history of coronary artery disease, peripheral vascular disease, hepatic and renal disease as it causes prolonged vasoconstriction.
If your headaches get frequent you can discuss with a Neurologist the need for starting Prophylactic treatment.
Hope this answers some of your questions.
