What Are The Side Effects Of Inhaling Dry Chlorine?

My husband inhaled dry chlorine, he opened the container and the fumes hit him in the face. He insists he is fine....his eyes were red and watery but have cleared up. When he talks he sounds a little raspy, he says he doesn't have chest pains but does feel very little restriction on his breathing says he can breath. He does feel some muscus there now.

What should I do?

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
He is having inhalation of chlorine powder.
This kind of exposure can cause inflammatory reaction in airways. This is known as bronchitis.
Usually, this is self limiting in nature.
So no need to worry for some mucus sensation in the chest.
You can give him simple anti inflammatory drug for this. He will mostly recover within 2-3 days.
But if he develops cough, chest pain and breathing difficulty then immediately consult doctor because he might need inhaled treatment.
But at present, no treatment is required.
Also tell him to drink plenty of fluids orally and keep himself hydrated.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your husband. Thanks.
